Passkeys galore

I’ve written previously on how I surf the internet and how I use Bitwarden as my password manager, but one new tool I’d like to mention is WebAuthn passkeys.

What’s a passkey? It’s a new, more secure standardized way to replace using passwords for websites by using public key cryptography. Only your device with the correct pin or biometric passcode can unlock the passkey for a given website. Major websites like Google and Amazon use them. My company also uses them. Super convenient.

But the real accelerator is using passkeys in conjunction with Bitwarden, which allows you to share passkeys among all devices, including your Mac and iPhone. The built-in Keychain on the Mac/iOS also supports passkeys, but I’m still think Bitwarden is superior.

This site will tell you which sites support passkeys: passkeys.directory
